Biotechnology is a
multi-disciplinary subject which include the application of biology and
technology in a variety of fields such as Plant and Agriculture, Food
Processing, Pharmaceutical , Clinical Research, Veterinary Industries,
Life Sciences, to name a few.
Development of better variety of plant crops, development of unique
vaccines for providing resistance to diseases, stem cell research are
all examples of Biotechnology.
At present the department is imparting UG and PG courses in
Biotechnology. There are 15 faculty members and most of them have Ph.D
degrees. Among them two are trained in Canada, USA and Japan.
There are 10 state of the art modern laboratories:
• Microbiology Lab
• r-DNA Technology Lab
• Plant Tissue Culture Lab
• Instrument Room
• Bioinformatics Lab
• Biochemistry Lab
• Immunology Lab
• Project/Research Lab
• Process Control Lab
• Unit Operation Lab
