Preamble:

Bengal College of Engineering and Technology (BCET), Durgapur, established under the aegis of SKS Educational and Social Trust, is committed to transforming into a world-class multidisciplinary technical institution. This Institutional Development Plan (IDP) charts our strategic roadmap for academic excellence, innovation, and societal contribution in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and AICTE guidelines.

VISION Vision:

To emerge as a globally recognized center of excellence in technical education, fostering innovation, applied research, and ethical leadership to address complex real-world challenges.

MISSION Mission:

OBE Outcome-Based Education (OBE):

Deepening the implementation of OBE frameworks across all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (CSE, ECE, EE, ME, Civil, and MBA) affiliated with MAKAUT, ensuring measurable attainment of Course (COs) and Program Outcomes (POs).

NEP ELECTIVES Flexible Curriculum & Minor Degrees:

Integrating multi-disciplinary minor specializations and credit-based elective structures in emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cyber Security, and Internet of Things (IoT).

PEDAGOGY Pedagogical Modernization:

Transitioning toward hybrid teaching-learning models, blending interactive digital tools, flipped classrooms, simulation software, and experiential project-based learning.

FACULTY Faculty Advancement & Empowerment:

Regular participation of faculty members in advanced Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), national/international conferences, and industry certification courses to bridge academia-industry gaps.

R&D WING R&D Cell Expansion:

Strengthening the institutional Research & Development wing to encourage faculty and student publishing in peer-reviewed Scopus/SCI journals, patent filings, and securing external research grants from government bodies (AICTE, DST, etc.).

STARTUPS BCET Incubation & Startup Support:

Scaling up institutional incubation facilities to nurture student-led startup ideas, providing prototyping seed grants, legal guidance, and mentorship from industry veterans.

CORPORATE MoUs Industry-Academia Collaboration:

Expanding active Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with core engineering, manufacturing, and IT corporations for joint research, curriculum inputs, guest lectures, and live industrial projects.

Comprehensive pre-placement training focusing on high-end coding proficiency, analytical aptitude, domain-specific technical mastery, and professional communication to maximize employability.

GOVERNANCE Inclusive & Transparent Governance:

Strict adherence to statutory welfare protocols including the Student Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC), Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Anti-Ragging Cell, and Reservation Roster policies to ensure an equitable campus environment.

CAMPUS LIFE Co-Curricular & Social Engagement:

Promoting active student chapters in professional societies (IEEE, CSI, etc.), community outreach via National Service Scheme (NSS) camps, competitive sports leagues, and cultural festivals (such as OJUS) to ensure holistic personal growth.

LABS & LIBRARY Smart Campus Infrastructure:

Upgrading central computing laboratories, high-performance research labs, smart seminar halls, and central library resources (including physical volumes and digital databases like DELNET).

SUSTAINABILITY Green Campus & Sustainability:

Implementing eco-friendly practices across the Durgapur campus, including energy-efficient lighting, waste management protocols, and water conservation initiatives.

DIGITAL GOVERNANCE Administrative Digitalization:

Streamlining administrative, examination, fee collection, and student tracking workflows through secure enterprise portals to ensure complete operational transparency.
