Message from the Ombudsperson
In accordance with the All India Council for Technical Education (Redressal of Grievance of Students) Regulations and the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, the Office of the Ombudsperson serves as an autonomous appellate body to address grievances of students enrolled at Bengal College of Engineering and Technology (BCET).
The primary purpose of the Ombudsperson is to provide an objective, external forum for students who are aggrieved by the decision of the institutional Student Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC) or where the SGRC has failed to resolve a genuine grievance within statutory timelines.
Scope & Matters Covered:
- Irregularities in the admission process or denial of admission contrary to stated criteria.
- Withholding or refusal to return any certificates or original documents submitted during admission.
- Non-transparent or wrongful evaluation of examinations, assessments, or attendance records.
- Grievances relating to scholarship disbursement, unfair forfeiture of caution money, or unjustified fee demands.
- Allegations of discrimination based on caste, creed, religion, gender, or disability.
Any aggrieved student may submit an appeal to the Ombudsperson through the official email address or by submitting a sealed representation to the Ombudsperson Secretariat. Every hearing is conducted adhering strictly to natural justice, giving fair opportunity to both student and institutional representatives.
