Message from the Governing Bodies

"Robust institutional governance ensures academic autonomy, continuous quality enhancement, and uncompromising alignment with national educational priorities."

The governance of Bengal College of Engineering and Technology (BCET) is steered by three statutory bodies functioning under the aegis of SKS Educational and Social Trust in strict compliance with AICTE guidelines, MAKAUT statutes, and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020:

1. Board of Governors (BoG)

The Board of Governors serves as the supreme executive authority of the college. Composed of eminent industrialists, educationists, government nominees, MAKAUT university representatives, trust members, and senior faculty, the BoG sets long-term strategic targets, approves annual institutional budgets, reviews faculty recruitment standards, and sanctions major capital expenditures.

2. Academic Council

The Academic Council is responsible for maintaining and elevating academic standards. Chaired by the Principal and comprising all Department Heads, senior professors, industry experts, and university nominees, the Council reviews curricula, introduces minor specializations in emerging technologies (AI, Cyber Security, IoT), sanctions academic calendars, and evaluates semester examination results.

3. Finance Committee

The Finance Committee acts as an advisory and supervisory body on all institutional fiscal matters. It examines annual budget estimates, reviews audited balance sheets, allocates funds for departmental research laboratories, oversees fee structures as per statutory regulations, and ensures fiscal health and accountability.

Commitment to NEP 2020 Autonomy: Together, the BoG, Academic Council, and Finance Committee steer the execution of BCET’s 5-Year Institutional Development Plan (IDP), steering our roadmap toward academic autonomy, NBA Tier-1 accreditations, and interdisciplinary research centers.
